Mommy Porn: Rise of a New Genre Made Possible by the eBook Revolution

Although the "Erotic Romance" genre has been around for awhile, the category seems to have picked up in the recent years with the advent of the eBook technology. The best part about today’s EE-romances i.e. electronic erotic romances - is that one can enjoy them without having to endure the cashier's smirks at the book store or the uncomplimentary furtive glances at the adults-only cover from your fellow commuters -  even the sauciest, steamiest and most sensual novels with High resolution imagery can be downloaded in the privacy of your ebook reader in the middle of a crowd with no one noticing anything. Except, of course unless you react to the book  exciting words and have an orgasm right there in the moving train.

And some of these hottest erotic romances are coming from some very talented new authors. These aren't your conventional bodice ripper paperbacks; neither are they "50 Shades of Grey" with its somewhat cringe-worthy BDSM scenes and degrading "Slave" contracts. The newest sensual romances are tender, sweet and yet sexy enough earn the dubious classification of mommy porn. Yes, hot and sexy is  the popular sentiment among today’s erotic romance writers. The hotter and sexier,  the better.

This summer is sizzling with the newly released hot and sexy romance series Private Emotions, authored by up and coming british author Elize Amornette.

The series opens with "Appointments", where young Emily Harris starts a chain reaction when she meets her best friend for coffee. Soon, she is engulfed into a haze of love, romance and sexual discovery with Ethan Sterling.

Emily’s trust in Ethan finally gives her the opportunity to step away from the veil that has suppressed her sexual desires all her life … but at what cost? In book 2, "Invitations", young Emily even though madly in love with Ethan is forced to confront her inhibitions again and again as Ethan continues to push her boundaries, finally crossing the invisible line of Emily's comfort. We leave it for the reader to find out how Emily deals with it (Hint: there is a book 3)

In book 3, "Promises", it appears that Emily has finally found her zone of comfort, feeling confident that there are no surprises left - sexual or otherwise with Ethan. Again, we can't add a spoiler here so you will have to read the finale of the series to find out whether her confidence actually turns out to be true or is Ethan able to continue to surprise her and us.

A delightfully sexy and sensual series, the Private Emotions series is a thoroughly engrossing read. The story is well-written, with a lively plot and engaging characters that propel you to the end as if there will be no 6 AM alarm in the morning.

This week's Featured Kindle Book: The Monsterjunkies; an American Family Odyssey,

By Guest blogger M.J Nickum

This week's featured book:  The Monsterjunkies; an American Family Odyssey,

You'll recognize at least one character The Monsterjunkies; an American Family Odyssey, whether it's the main character, much maligned Cromwell, his sister the well-arranged Indigo or the bully-master himself, Rutherford J. Grimes III. Cromwell or Crow, as he prefers to be called, finds a way to deal with the bullying. He meets it head-on in a unique combination of smarts and one-ups-manship. Indigo, too, must find a way to have friends over without sacrificing her family's desire and need for privacy.

Why the overly espoused need for privacy? Find out what the Monsterjunkie estate is harboring. It is the very estate itself and it's unusual set of inhabitants that provides the ticket for Crow's acceptance. The author, Erik Daniel Shein, noted author and animator, provides teens a look inside a family who struggles with inheritance, science and a community's fear of the unknown. Highly recommended for school and public library collections For me, this title was a quick read and it got me hooked from the start. Pretty interesting plot and well developed characters! This book highlights the reality that it's always best to be our "true" self and "unmask" in whatever sphere of live we have to operate.

I absolutely recommend this book to not only teens but also to every parent, educator, any person who has ever bullied anyone or who was bullied!

The Benefits of Keeping Track of Your Life

Days pass by really quickly. Before you know it, the week is gone, the month has passed, and the year has ended.

Some people choose to keep track of their life, be it through a blog, a diary, a picture book - whatever that person feels is an appropriate recording of their days. Keeping track of your life actually has several benefits, all of which could push you to start doing so or to start doing a better job at it.

  1. Look back. The simplest benefit, but it should not be taken for granted. Looking back on the awesome things that have happened could inspire you. On the other hand, looking back on the not-so-awesome things could hurt, but it could also give you more drive to succeed in the next stages of your life.
  2. Clarify things. While keeping track of your life, be it through words or pictures, you get to study all the intricate details of your days. You learn to realize that if it wasn’t for this thing that happened last week, this thing wouldn’t have happened today. You see the bigger picture of everything that’s happening around you, not just what you remember as you go to sleep every night.
  3. Record lessons. So this is a great place to hang out. So this person shouldn’t be trusted. So this is how you do this awesome thing. The lessons of life, from the most mundane to the most profound, become so much more important when you’re able to remember them. Because what’s a lesson learned if you don’t use it, right?
  4. Share to the world. This is the last benefit and the most important. Why would anyone be interested in my life, you ask? Well, it’s because it’s yours. Not mine, not his, not hers. Only you go through it, and only you understand it the way that you do. It’s a mystery to everyone else – and that’s what makes each person’s life most interesting.

Inspirer: Poetic observations” by Allen Vaysberg is one such sharing of a person that kept track of his life – but instead of an everyday account or an album of pictures, he uses the power of poetry to share his life to the world.

Inspirer: Poetic observations” is currently available in Kindle format at Amazon.com. Click on the link to preview the book or download your own copy.

Amazon India Launched; Starts with Sales of Books and DVDs

Amazon, taking a huge jump to a foreign market, launched Amazon.in – Amazon India.

The website, the 10th country-specific Amazon marketplace, started by selling books and DVDs. Mobile phones and digital cameras are up next in the offerings for the website.

As part of its launch, Amazon India is giving away free eBooks in its Free Kindle eBook Fortnight promo. One free Ebook will be given away per day, and only for that day! The promo is accessible through this page.

Amit Agarwal, Amazon India’s VP and country manager, said in a statement that the vision of Amazon India is to become a trustworthy and meaningful channel for retailer sales in India.

Amazon India is different as it is strictly a marketplace wherein interested parties can have their products listed for sale – Amazon India is not selling its own items. However, they are offering services to its merchants, such as giving them the option to have Amazon India take care of logistics such as delivery, return and customer service.

Amazon didn’t have a marketplace in India before; however, it had an indirect presence in the country when, in 2012, Amazon launched Junglee.com. Junglee is a website that compares products for sale in India, both online and offline, which visitors use to compare prices and read other users’ reviews. Users couldn’t purchase the products directly from Junglee, though.

The launch of Amazon India is a sign of the increasing interest in the country’s e-commerce by American companies. Recently, eBay led an investment round in Snapdeal, an online marketplace in India.

The Thrill of the Spider’s Dance

Environmental disasters have always been the worst kind of catastrophe: The environment gets destroyed, the people suffer, companies lose millions upon millions, and the government is forced to extend a lot of resources to have the disaster neutralized.

But what if an environmental disaster is actually part of a deliberate scheme? What if someone intends to gain from such a horrific tragedy?

Spider’s Dance,” by Will Graham, is a fast-paced thriller that features the orchestration of an environmental disaster for personal gain.

Nicholas White, the protagonist and a computer security and forensics consultant, is sent by his company to investigate an oil rig that exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. What is deemed to be the worst environmental disaster of the millennium becomes several shades darker when White notices patterns that suggest that the explosion of the oil rig was not unplanned.

White is then thrust into a complex web of deceit and death as he unravels a mystery that dates back to the Holocaust, back to World War II.

The story, though very suspenseful, is also filled with wit and humor that is tirelessly incorporated into every chapter. White and all the characters jump out of the page, pulling you into this masterful thriller.

The fear that you experience while reading the book feels so real, and that’s probably because you know, as with other real-world thrillers, that such a scenario could actually happen. Graham blurs the line of fact and fiction with his impeccable writing that keeps readers completely immersed and involved in the challenges White goes through and all the forbidden knowledge he uncovers.

“Spider’s Dance” makes you ask how far things can be taken in the grand scheme of the world. Amidst the complicated world of oil and in the memorable but painful history of World War II, Graham shows you how far – and how deep.

Spider's Dance” is currently available in Kindle format at Amazon.com. Click on the link to preview the book or download your own copy.

Amazon Spends $220 Million to Get Exclusive Streaming Rights to Kids Shows for Prime Subscribers on Kindle Fire and Other Devices

In an open letter posted on its website, Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos announced that Amazon has just closed a deal with Viacom, giving it the right to broadcast hundreds of kids TV shows on Prime Instant Video.

In addition, the company has gained exclusive rights to stream many of these TV shows on its Instant Video network.

Bezos went on to boast that members of Amazon Prime now have unlimited instant streaming access to the largest subscription library for Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. content online.

Included in the list are over 3,000 episodes from  top-rating children’s programs such as Spongebob Squarepants, Blues Clues, and Dora the Explorer. There are also new shows like Drake & Josh, Big Time Rush, and Bubble Guppies.

Many of these shows had formerly been available on Netflix until the latter allowed its rights to broadcast the Viacom shows expire in May this year. Amazon.com then snapped up the opportunity to bring these programs to its Amazon Prime members.

According a Reuters report, this deal cost Amazon.com $220m, making it the biggest deal that Amazon has ever closed for streaming videos. The same report also states that this deal provides Amazon a greater number of shows than what Netflix had previously gotten from Viacom.

The deal is said to cover a time period of over two years.

Many of the shows are also available on Kindle Free Time, an Amazon.com service that specifically targets kid viewers.

The Beauty of Modern Conversation

Fraser Sinclair’s New York Exchange: The Parachutes in Between is an insightful look into the lives and minds of two endearing individuals as they go on with their daily lives. The book uses a familiar style - telling the story through communications between the characters - but Sinclair does it with a unique blend of humor and mystery that keeps its readers looking forward to what's next in the messages between George and Lauren.

This book illustrates how readers can still appreciate a well-crafted story that’s brought to life by well-imagined characters. New York Exchange: The Parachutes in Between is a light read that shows just how beautiful modern conversation can be.
